DEAF CLUBS

There are a variety of deaf social and deaf sports and social clubs throughout Wales.

These are not always evenly distributed and deaf people frequently have to travel long distances to attend even in the South East Corner of Wales where the most clubs are situated. 

There is a tremendous lack of hard of hearing clubs in Wales one of the main barriers being transport as the majority of hard of hearing people are in the more advanced age bracket.

The Wales Council for Deaf People would be happy to assist the  formation of new Social Clubs for hearing impaired people in Wales.

HEARING IMPAIRED SUPPORT GROUPS

There are a variety of hearing impaired support groups in Wales.  These are purely volunteer organisations have been formed due to local need.  They act as a Community resource and watch-dog for local services for hearing impaired people.

In a number of cases support groups provide direct services particularly with regard to transporting hearing impaired people to ENT Units and providing a hearing aid advice service among other things.

Groups always welcome new members.  Volunteers should contact the person named within the information given under each group name.

The Wales Council for Deaf People is willing to help new volunteer groups form by providing finance, training, administration support and advice.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT GROUPS

There are a number of Community groups throughout Wales which can provide advice and support to people with hearing loss.  Further details are available from the Wales Council for Deaf People.

The Wales Council for Deaf People welcomes enquiries concerning the establishment of new groups for people with hearing loss in areas which are not already served by a volunteer group. 

The Council can provide finance, advice, contacts and training to help new groups develop.
