Lipreading Awareness Week 2016

Wales Council for Deaf People (WCDP) were pro-active in raising awareness of how lipreading may benefit people with hearing loss and the problems surrounding effective communication when there is background noise –  including piped music.  .

On Wed 28th September we manned an information table and gave taster lipreading sessions at Bronglais hospital Aberystwyth.  We met some wonderful people – patients and staff; we look forward to visiting again in the future.

3rd October we provided the same service in Glangwili Hospital Carmarthen which was very busy that day.  We were able to signpost some people to their nearest hard of hearing support groups which were developed by WCDP.

On Monday 10th October we shall be at Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli so if you are around please call at our information table which will be situated in the café/restaurant.

Please contact us if you have any queries about hearing loss or if you feel you would benefit from attending lipreading sessions.

Finally WCDP would like to extend a big thank you to all the staff in Hywel Dda University Health Board for making it all possible.
