Audiology Departments
The NHS provides a service to people who are deaf, hard of
hearing, and deafened for consultation and appropriate remedial action through
audiological departments within general hospitals. Services include
testing of hearing, diagnosis of problems, fitting of hearing aids including
earmold provision, servicing of hearing aids and battery provision.
There may be other services available including surgery where
required. It is necessary to be referred by your GP for initial services.
If in doubt consult a GP first, hospitals do not normally provide services to unreferred patient.
