Lipspeaker

Role of Lipspeakers

Lipspeakers are trained professionals who can help individuals who rely on lipreading. By using unvoiced speech, lipspeakers convey a speaker's message while maintaining the visual cues necessary for lipreading. This can make it easier for lipreaders to understand spoken language.

What is a lipspeaker?

Lipspeaking is a visual communication skill that involves understanding speech by watching a speaker's lip movements, facial expressions, and body language. It can be a valuable tool for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Working with a Lipspeaker

When working with a Lipspeaker, it is important to:

  • Communicate your needs clearly: Let your Lipspeaker know about any specific challenges you face in lipreading.

  • Be patient: Lipreading can be time-consuming, so be patient and allow the Lipspeaker time to convey the message.

  • Practice regularly: The more you practice lipreading with a Lipspeaker, the better you will become at understanding spoken language.
