Supporting Families

Icon

Whether you're new to the deaf community or looking for ways to support a loved one with hearing loss, our training or free resources can help you provide the best possible support.

WCDP is dedicated to supporting children and families in developing essential confidence, social, and communication skills.

We are involved in; Deaf & Deafblind Awareness Training, offering BSL classes, & organising fun and engaging activities for children and families during school holidays.

PROJECT PLANT

Project Plant is a dedicated space designed to support parents and families of Deaf children. Located within our building, this welcoming environment will host BSL classes and support groups.

The name "Project Plant" reflects our commitment to nurturing and growing the next generation of Deaf individuals. Just as plants need care and attention, so too do our children.

To honor the memory of Sharon Phillips, a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf who made a significant impact on our community, we have named the room after her.

Family Together

Join Your Local Children's Hearing Services Working Group (CHSWG)

As a parent of a deaf child, your voice matters. By joining your local CHSWG, you can actively participate in shaping services and support for deaf children and their families.

What is a CHSWG?

A CHSWG is a collaborative group made up of professionals from education, health, social services, and the voluntary sector. The group works together to improve services for deaf children and their families.

Why Join a CHSWG?

  • Advocate for Your Child's Needs: Share your experiences and insights to influence decisions.

  • Connect with Other Parents: Build relationships and support networks with other parents.

  • Improve Services: Help shape services and ensure they meet the needs of deaf children and their families.

Find Your Local CHSWG:

There is a CHSWG in every health authority area in Wales. Contact your local health board or WCDP for more information.
